Yes it was very sad. The shift boss who fell into the hot muck chute was the one that rattled me most.

I do hope you and Kent didn't make the mistake of Jon Mikkelson and me and "taste" the saltpeter! Whatever the ingredients it certainly was fun. Send me Ray's email and I will twist his arm! lol Thanks Kim!

I feel like these blasting skills could have come in handy when The chair and staff were busy behind the scenes scheming to dismantle the board. You could have pulled a guy fox and expedited the process.

It crossed my mind... but I did work with a guy in Australia who said that he knew a miner from Mount Isa (big mine in Northern Territory) who caught his wife cheating and blew her and her lover sky high. Also his house but I guess he felt he wouldn't be needing it for some time. There is a certain Je ne sais quois about settling grievances with dynamite! lol

Around that time you speak about I was making gunpowder with Kent Goodwin and we got saltpeter from the drug store. Maybe they thought we were going through early puberty and allowed us to buy it. I worked underground at 93 pipe bench in 1975. I remember those deaths, the two miners coming after I left. Very sad. Bob James and I hauled air and water pipe up to them a couple of times. (BTW, Ray Nonis was visiting a few days ago and I gave him the link to your site.)
